Chiropractic

A system of integrative medicine based on the diagnosis and manipulative treatment of the joints of the body.

Fascial Manipulation®

Fascia is now considered a sensory organ that when treated in specific areas, provides necessary information to the brain, allowing the dysfunctional covered area to work with improved function.

HAMMER HANDS-ON

Warren Hammer, DC, MS (in practice since 1960) and Deborah Hammer DC (in practice since 1987) have devoted themselves to the finest care possible for their patients. They represent the new age of chiropractic care that while realizing the importance of joint manipulation, recognizes the relationship of muscles and the fascial system to our overall structure. Dr. W. Hammer is a certified instructor in Fascial Manipulation® (FM) and was responsible for bringing this method to the U.S.. His daughter Deborah is also very well versed in the method. FM has been taught in over 50 countries and is growing exponentially along with fascial research.

OUR SPECIALTIES

Chiropractic

A part of integrative medicine based on the diagnosis and manipulation (adjustment) of the spine and joint fixations throughout the human body. Relates especially to problems dealing with the muscular and nervous system.

Fascial Manipulation®

Fascial Manipulation© (FM) is based on the hypothesis that the connective tissue, fascia, which covers almost everything in the body (organs, muscles, tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc.) is not just a covering, but a sensory organ that reports to the central nervous system (CNS) about what it covers. The CNS relies, for example, on muscle receptors in every muscle to report a muscle’s location in space, fine motor movements, joint range of motion, body position, muscle tone, contraction and coordination. In order for receptors to work, they must be stretched during muscle activity. The big news is that these informative receptors are in the fascia within the muscle. It is known that injury, surgery and overuse could cause a restriction or “density” of the fascia preventing it from being normally stretched when the muscle works. Therefore, a diminished lack of receptor gliding can result in loss of muscle strength, joint instability, loss of range of motion, acute and chronic muscle and joint pain, plus nerve and vascular entrapment. Specially trained FM practitioners are trained to determine what areas of the fascia contain these receptors that are at fault. FM can explain how an old ankle injury can cause a knee, hip, low back or even shoulder pain.

Other Soft Tissue Methods

Over the years other successful soft tissue methods have been proven to be successful. In our office we utilize these techniques when necessary: Instrument Assisted Soft Tissue Mobilization (metal instruments), friction massage, Strain/Counter strain, Longitudinal Osteo-Articular De-coaptation Stretching (ELDOA), Active Release, Post Facilitation Stretch, Myofascial Release, Active Isolated Stretching, Mobilization with Movement.

Why people believe in us

"I have received great benefit from the fascia treatment delivered from Dr. Hammer."

Julie Andrews Edwards, Actress

"I saw two chiropractors and a physical therapist over a year for severe shoulder pain. I saw Dr. Hammer and have been free from pain for the past five years."

Christine Anderson

“For most of my life, I did not believe in chiropractors. Warren Hammer changed that for me. His highly professional treatments have given me much-needed relief of muscular tensions that are a direct result of all the time I spend writing at a computer terminal. What's more, as soon as I felt better, he sent me on my way.”

Woody Klein, Journalist

“While a student, I took two of your seminars. I give you full credit for opening my eyes and turning me into the "myofascial release" practitioner that I am today. My patients get better faster and stay that way. Keep up the good work.”

Dr. Gordon Rodestskey, Chiropractic Physician

SHOCK WAVE THERAPY

Shock Wave Therapy is used to stimulate healing in acute or chronically injured tendons and muscles. Our experts use Extracorporeal Pulse Technology, or EPAT - a unique set of pressure waves targeted at an area with chronic pain - to stimulate cell production, enhance blood circulation, and eventually regenerate damaged tissue. The procedure usually takes 10-15 minutes, depending on the type of injury and generally, five sessions are necessary for you to experience pain relief.
